Regional Science Exhibition 2022
- Loyola High School, Patna

Loyola High School hosted CBSE Regional Science Exhibition 2022 on 13th December, 2022, and 14th December, 2022. Sixty-nine teams from forty-four schools participated in this exhibition. The first day’s event was graced by our Chief Guest Mr. Jitendra Mahajan, Assistant Secretary, Examination and Confidential, Regional Office, Patna, who was the Chief Guest, and the Guest of Honour, Mr. Rajeev Ranjan Sinha, President, Patliputra Sahodaya. The Chief Guest, Mr. Jitendra Mahajan, spoke about the importance of physical, mental, and spiritual health of the students. He encouraged the participants to excel academically and also tried to inculcate in them the seed of time management and innovation.
Leading a team of eight students, we designed an innovative hydroponic farming system aimed at revolutionizing modern agriculture. Our project tackled two critical challenges—excessive fertilizer dependency and water scarcity—by reducing fertilizer use by 70% and cutting water wastage by 90%. The system was entirely powered by solar panels, ensuring a self-sustaining, environmentally friendly model. We envisioned this as a scalable solution for urban and rural farming, allowing crops to thrive with minimal resources.
One of the standout features of our project was its automation. Using Arduino and multiple sensors, we integrated an intelligent water level detection and refilling system that sent email alerts when levels dropped, ensuring uninterrupted plant growth. The system, programmed in C++ and Python, eliminated manual intervention, making hydroponics more accessible to farmers with limited technical expertise.
Judges were particularly impressed by our forward-thinking approach, awarding us 2nd place in the Grade 9-12 division and a cash prize of ₹5,000 INR. They highlighted our project’s potential to shape the future of farming, not just as a theoretical model but as a practical, scalable solution. The exhibition attendees, including educators and industry professionals, engaged in thought-provoking discussions about its real-world applications, envisioning hydroponic farms integrated into urban landscapes, reducing food scarcity, and revolutionizing agricultural sustainability.
